Even though high school is a time for students to figure out what type of career they want to pursue, many students already know what their future career will be. For those that know that they want to be educators, they have joined a new club on campus: Educator’s Rising.
The club was designed to help future educators by helping them pick what role they want to pursue in educator (teacher, counselor, psychologist, aide, etc.), the grade they want to teach, and, depending on the grade, what subject they want to teach. Even though it’s mainly about teacher careers, Mrs. Borland, the club advisor, said that students that aren't sure what they want to be can still join the club to see if they are interested in teaching students.
Over the last few meetings, members of Educator's Rising have been arranging a field trip on Friday, March 23rd, to attend the 2018 Teacher's Tomorrow Conference at Fresno State. During the past few meetings of Educator’s Rising. Attendees, including Minarets students and Mrs. Borland, will be attending presentations on new ways of learning, new ways of teaching, best ways to become a teacher, recommended classes to take, and booths for possible colleges to attend.
If you are interested in join, the next meeting is on March 16th, 2018 in room 607 at lunch. You can also talk to Mrs. Borland in room 607 for more information!
