Madera Fair 2018

Updated: May 21, 2020

When you think of FFA, many people immediately think of showing animals. While there is more to our FFA chapter, they aren't wrong, as Minarets FFA had a lot of success at the Madera Fair. The first day of the fair and the first day of showing, Minarets FFA hit the ground running by placing first in rabbit showmanship. The rest of the week was filled with members showing their pigs, horses, sheep, goats, and cattle. As a result, we also had lots of success in the market category having, too many students to name placing in the top of their market classes. In showmanship, Minarets FFA also had six of members compete and make it into the Master Showmanship Ring by placing first through sixth.

Fair isn’t all about winning; the students involved learned many things about what it takes to raise an animal as well as the responsibilities and duties you must take on to do a large project like this. Junior Daniel Speak, a third-year Minarets FFA member, said, “ Fair was good. I showed a lamb again and it was my best year yet... ”. Daniel and many other members continue to grow their knowledge each fair and continue to do better.
