Attention, Minarets students and community members! This season, Erika Hafkey as well as Mrs. Therese Righter with the Minarets Key Club are putting on a project, and they need your help! The project is called “No More Barefoot Children,” or “No Más Niños Descalzos.” This project is a shoe drive and they are collecting shoes from December 7th to December 19th.
Mrs. Therese Righter, a coordinator for this project, says, “What we’re going to do is collect gently used shoes for children ages birth to 13 years old. Erika and her family will be taking them to the town of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, over winter break.”
There are many drop-off locations for this project. Here are all of the locations where you can find a drop-off box in the area:
Minarets High School Office
Room 607 at Minarets High School
Raymond Elementary School
Grocery Outlet in Oakhurst
Thrift Shop in North Fork
On the Minarets 2018 Community Day, Key Club members will be sorting, cleaning, prepping, and packaging the shoes collected. If you are a student in need of a Community Day project to sign up for, it is highly encouraged that you sign up for this one! It is a great project that will benefit so many children and is also a great project to contribute to. Gather your gently used shoes and donate to No More Barefoot Children!
