To finally test their abilities Natural Resource team members went to the State Finals competition on January 26, 2019 at Reedley College. Students have been practicing for many weeks and have been to several competitions in preparation for this day. The final team chosen to compete at state finals consisted of sophomore Benjamyn Bradley, juniors Mackenzie Camacho, Autumn Pecarovich and sophomore Hana Unruh.
These students competed in the events of knowledge, skills, animal ID, plant ID, oral presentation, and mule packing and won Third High Team for their efforts. The team also won second high team in knowledge, fourth in skills, fifth in plant ID, fourth in animal ID, and fifth in team events.
Junior Mackenzie Camacho also placed fourth individually in skills. To get more information on how the competition went I asked competitor Mackenzie Camacho about the competition and she said “The competition went really well and I am really excited, because we have a great chance at winning next year. This was a well put together competition and I’m satisfied with how we did”.
Overall, this was a great competition for the students and has them aspiring to win first place even more than before. Stay updated to see how the rest of the fall teams do at their final competitions and how FFA kicks off the spring CDE team season!
