History Made in Donkey Basketball

What’s the best way to mix FFA with sports? If your instant answer wasn’t, “Donkey Basketball”, you don’t know what you are missing out on! Well in hindsight Ram Football also sounds fun, but it would be super difficult to teach them to catch.

Anyways, Donkey Basketball is an annual event at Minarets High School during FFA Week. Students and teachers face off against each other in basketball while riding donkeys that are being herded around the basketball court. You might think this would be super easy and boring, but its actually quite challenging; most of the shots had to practically be shot backwards. Its also extremely entertaining watching people try to move a large, stubborn animal to get a ball that dropped.

For the first time in Minarets history, the students beat the teachers with outstanding scores of 42 - 30. This ended the four year winning streak that the teachers previously held.

Hopefully this student-victory continues next year when Donkey Basketball returns in 2020.
