A Night to Remember: Minarets’ Moroccan Nights Winter Formal

January 27th, 2026 O'Neals, CA Luis Ayala, Reporter

On January 24, 2026, the Minarets House of Reps leadership team hosted our annual Winter Formal with the theme Moroccan Nights. From golden elephants to candlelit lanterns, students danced the night away in a Moroccan-inspired pavilion to beats laid down by our very own music teacher, Mr. Von Wagner.

A night filled with music, movement, and memories. Photo by Luis Ayala

Although Winter Formal was pushed back due to the football team’s run to the state playoffs, the delay didn’t dampen the excitement. Students still showed up suited, booted, and ready to dance. Many attendees described the night as unforgettable. “An evening wrapped in silk, stars, and unforgettable moments,” said Riley Dunbar. “Formal was proof that some nights are meant to be remembered,” added Lily Von Wagner. Devon Menchaca simply summed it up with, “Dance was lit.” Others shared their thoughts as well, including Nathan Maxfield, who said, “I feel as though I missed out by not being there,” and Hailey Viloria, who commented, “The decorations were cool.”

A huge thank you to the House of Reps leadership team for planning and executing such an amazing event, to our chaperones for volunteering their time, and to Mr. Von Wagner for keeping the dance floor alive all night long.
