Mr. Kill is a teacher absolutely adored among Minarets– and, rightfully so. He is an ambitious and authentic teacher who loves to share his passion for history with his students. His dedication goes beyond textbooks and lessons, extending to his constant and successful efforts to make every lesson engaging and purposeful. When asked what his favorite part of teaching is, he responded with, “Seeing students realize how much they actually enjoy history, and have fun with the content.” His approach encourages students to acknowledge and appreciate past events, and how they have shaped the world today.
His own educational journey plays a crucial role in his teaching philosophy. When reflecting on his initial interest in becoming an educator, Mr. Kill said, “When I was in college, I had a professor who really pushed me to take a shot at an internship that I thought I would never get… It ended up being the only internship that gave me a position." He continued, “That inspired me to teach because I want to be someone who pushes students to believe in themselves and feel like they can achieve whatever they want to, even when they may doubt their own abilities.” When asking students on campus how they feel about Mr. Kill, the answers remain the same. They all feel as though he has impacted them in such a positive way, and that they’re grateful to have him as a teacher. “I love Mr. Kill. He's helped me understand so much, but also, outside of history, he’s just helped me so much.” said one student. “I would say he’s really impacted us by teaching us how to become independent, work harder, and to push ourselves to our own personal growth. He’s always been there for us whenever we needed someone to talk to,” said student Emily Tellez. The unconditional love and support given to and from students make Mr. Kill a cherished and remarkable teacher within the Minarets community.
