Minarets FFA team delivered the most exciting week we’ve had in years, featuring the thrilling Hungry Games. This event, called the hungry games, is an event where they select staff member “tributes” to compete in the games, with the goal of having one "last man standing." Based on “The Hunger Games” the event revealed the value of teamwork within the minarets staff and how competitive our teachers can be. They all fought their hardest to win the competition and get the honor of kissing the queen. The queen that I'm speaking of– the greatest of all, the center of attention on this beloved day is… a pig. That's right! If you win the hungry game, you get to kiss the pig.
The games played were quite a challenge.
The first game began with the teachers having to spin around thirty times and then open a piece of paper that they then had to stand on perfectly. Everyone was losing their paper and failing to stand straight up. Every staff member fought hard and true but not every single one had made it through.

They moved to the next game, where they had to balance flour on a card in their mouths and pass it to the person next to them. They all stood in lines, moving people's heads because some people were too tall. When it came to Mr. Lucas, Mr. West breathed too hard and coated Lucas in enough flour to make a loaf of bread.
Once they finished that, the next challenge was to sing the high pitch Elphaba riff from Wicked. Each remaining staff member went singing with all their might to match her pitch, with Mr. Curwick having the highest pitch of all, really singing his heart out.
Following these games, and more, the final round approached with four teachers left in the Hungry Games. Mr. Kill, Mr. Curwick, Mr. Sconce, and Mr. Lucas. Mr. Sconce shared “My fellow teacher batted hard and I think at the end of the day the students saw our tenacity and will always remember this day for the rest of their lives” at the end of the final round, the winner was decided through a cheer off, students across the gym gave their loudest cheers for the staff member they believed deserved the win– who should kiss the beloved queen pig. Mr. Lucas! He puckered his lips, moved in, and kissed the Queen pig.
