During our trip to China Peak, students from Minarets High School had the opportunity to learn how to ski and snowboard. This was an amazing experience, especially for those who had always wanted to try but never got the chance. I personally helped teach my friend Nevaeh how to snowboard since it was her first time, and I wanted to make the most of the experience.

On the first day, we started with a snowboard instructor in the beginner section. During the lesson, I helped Nevaeh learn how to turn left and right, stop using her toe and heel edges, and understand proper body positioning. After the lesson, I took her on her first ski lift up to the academy run. As we rode down the mountain, we saw several of our peers, which made it more exciting. At one point during the trip, Nevaeh told me, “I’m having such a fun time!” which made the moment even more memorable.
After our first run, we headed to the lodge to order food. They had burgers and fries, which gave us the energy to continue snowboarding for the rest of the day. We spent the rest of the day going up and down the mountain until it was time to pack up and leave at 6:00 P.M. and head back to the school. Overall, the trip was an unforgettable experience and a great opportunity to learn something new.
