The Ultimate Winter Workout

January 9th, 2026 O'Neals, CA Bronson Sidoti, Reporter

Did you know that skiing can benefit you in so many amazing ways?

If you ever stopped on a mountain and really looked around you know what I mean- the scenery is almost always breathtaking. It’s the kind of view that is inspiring without even trying.

Skiing is actually a full-body workout. It can seem like a chore to some people to work out but, skiing can be a different way to get the same physical benefits without feeling like you have to exercise. Skiing can improve balance, coordination, your core, arm strength, and can even act as interval training that can leave you out of breath.

Winter conditions like these make skiing both fun and unforgettable. Photo by Artlist

In addition to that, some people find that skiing is significantly easier to learn than other board sports, learning the basics in just a few hours. If you've ever had to ski down a flat and thought “hey, that was pretty easy”, well you're not wrong. Snowboarders have to balance on a single board without tipping over which takes way longer to master than skiing.

That being said, skiing is a fun and active sport. Don’t let the word “workout” discourage you. When you’re having fun, it never feels like one. With the China Peak trip coming up soon, more than 30 people have already signed up for the limited 50 spots. The cost is $70, which is a great deal compared to last year’s price of over $85.

And don't forget to have fun mustangs!!
