Since 1998, Google has been an internet browser known for many things, one being their creative logos seen when opening the search browser. You might be thinking, how do they have all these creative logos for almost any situation? Partially because of people like you and me influencing the Google Doodle. But what exactly is Google Doodle?
Google Doodle was created in 1998, before Google was incorporated. The founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin came up with the idea when they added a stick figure to the second “o” in "Google" to indicate their attendance at the Burning Man Festival in Nevada. The reason for the stick figure was a comical message to basically tell Google users that the founders were not in the office at the moment.
After that, more and more Google Doodles were made over time. The demand for these Doodles kept increasing to the point where Google couldn’t keep up. Nowadays, most Google Doodles are created by an amazing team of illustrators. However, every year these illustrators give people the opportunity to share their ideas and the Google Doodle competition was born. But how does the competition work?
To start the competition, one must know what to doodle. Every year for the competition, Google gives a different topic that every participant must follow in their drawing. For example, this year the topic is self-care. After people know what to doodle, the piece is up to them. People are allowed to do any form or art with any form of medium. From pencils to paints and everything in between, people are free to do whatever they want for their Google Doodle. To better understand the rules of this competition follow the link.
Once one finishes with their piece for the competition, they must turn it in a specific way. People are allowed to turn it in either physically or digitally. One must also fill out a specific form that can also be found digitally or physically. For more details, follow the link to the form.
Finally, once the pieces are in, all one has to do is wait and see what happens. If anyone is interested in participating in this competition, I highly recommend it. Who knows? Your Doodle might be the one to win.
