FFA is arguably the heart and soul of Minarets High School, with many unique experiences, people to meet, and paths to take. One of the most notorious and well-known members of our chapter is Joshua Wolford. His bright personality and dedicated attitude led him to where he is today: the California FFA state officer!
His FFA journey began when he was in 8th grade and decided to join AFNR. Joshua says “That got me in the loop of everything and helped me realize the vastness of what FFA and agriculture are”. He continued to take many subjects like biology, plant science, and AG leadership. Another helpful part of his upcoming was participating in speaking competitions like CDE. “I love to interact with and meet new people and I found that leadership positions were something that helped me do that.”
Minarets and the people here played a big role in Joshua's development with FFA. His biggest supporters were the people closest to him like his mom and dad, Mr. Rubio, and Tessa Camacho. “I definitely wouldn’t be who I am today without the help of my AG teachers like Mattes, Darrah, and Sani.” Support came from many outlets of the people who truly believed in him. They helped him expand his horizons and find his passion within the community.
When asked about how it feels to be a state officer, Joshua explains that “it doesn’t feel real.” Many of the people who inspired him to put the work in were state officers in the past, and it feels crazy knowing that his dream is now a reality. Only about two weeks have passed since he was given the title, but he’s beyond thrilled and excited for the upcoming years!
Over the years, Joshua has become an inspiration to present and future FFA members of the California section. Everyone who knows him knows that he is goal-oriented and doesn’t back down in the face of a challenge. It took him so much dedication to earn this achievement. His friends, family, and all of Minarets are proud to be able to see what he does next!
