Keeping Up with Key Club

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

by Janine Alven

Over the last few months, the Minarets Key Club has been involved in numerous events. In fact, Key Club members have participated in forty-five events and have completed 769 hours of community service. Some of these events include Homecoming, Breakfast with Santa, and the Kiwanis St. Patrick's Day Bingo.

Current President Senior Payton Poore spoke about what she felt she accomplished as president and how the year went for Key Club: As President of Minarets Key Club, I accomplished a goal of mine which is to impart a desire in community service to our fellow members and to instill the Key Club motto 'caring our way of life'. This year Minarets Key Club has gone amazingly, but we are all sad about the many events cancelled due to the pandemic but we have been able to try new things and build our bonds with the club members.”

As of Feb. 13, 2020, the board for the 2020-2021 school year has been elected and the Installation Night has gone virtual. The Virtual Installation will be held on May 7, 2020 and will celebrate graduating seniors and induct the new board members.

The new board consists of:

President: Madison Wuensch (Current Junior)

Vice President: Laura Rohrbaugh (Current Sophomore)

Secretary: Hazel Taintor ( Current Sophomore)

Treasurer: Laney Cornett (Current Freshman)

Editor: Janine Alven (Current Freshman)

Senior Director: Madison O’Dougherty (Current Junior)

Junior Director: Isabella Romero (Current Sophomore)

Sophomore Director: Sophia Kennedy (Current Freshman)

Future president Junior Madison Wuensch explained what she hopes to accomplish as president, I hope to continue to grow the Key Club program by continuing K-Kids at the other elementary schools in our school district. I'd also like to find more ways for our club to participate in local community service events."

The new Key Club Board is working enthusiastically to make sure that next year is not only great for Key Club but the entire Minarets community.
