The Minarets Lip Dub is a long standing tradition that has been going on since 2012. Yesterday, on April 10th, 2025 Minarets high school held their 13th annual Lip Dub media production. This year’s theme was centered around the year 2016. The performance consists of several songs that are lip-synced by the talent as they walk throughout the school in a predetermined route. Because the theme of this Lip Dub was “The year 2016” some of the songs played included “Juju on That Beat” (TZ Anthem), “Watch Me Whip/Nae Nae” (Silentó), and “Crank That” (Soulja Boy).
The whole school was able to participate in this event through representing their classes, clubs and sports. When we interviewed Senior and Lip Dub talent Laura Desilva, she explained, “I did the very ending. My favorite part was doing it with all my friends and having the whole school participate in a big project!” This event is highly anticipated among the Minarets Students and Staff, it's been an amazing connecting event where students are able to come together, and participate in such an extraordinary media production.

When we asked another student, Freshman, Mikayla Perez, about her thoughts and experience on the event, she shared, “Honestly I thought it was pretty fun, it was like nothing I've ever seen before and I really think that I'll be looking forward to doing it again.” The Minarets Lip Dub has been a cherished event among the students and staff for this reason, it is truly unique to our school which helps everyone feel a little bit more part of the minarets family. We congratulate all who worked hard to put this production together and look forward to seeing next year's Lip Dub performance!
