On Thursday, May 8th, Emma Malvin, for her SLE, hosted the Minarets FFA pre show. The event brought together students from both FFA and 4-H who raise and show animals such as pigs, sheep, goats, cows, and rabbits. There were two judges who evaluated the participants based on their showmanship skills, handling abilities, and overall presentation of their animal.

The show started off with the pig competition, which was divided into two groups: beginners and advanced. Next were the sheep and goats, followed by rabbits and steer. After each competition, the judge chose the top three exhibitors who then moved on to the round robin.
I feel that Emma did a really good job organizing the event and creating an exciting environment for everyone. It was a great turnout and experience. She provided pizza for dinner and cookies for dessert. Awards were given at the end of each show. The judge announced who placed first, second, and third, and then the overall winner, who would get a custom belt buckle. It is inspiring to watch students, many of whom have been showing animals for years, perform with such skill. They also demonstrated a deep connection with their animals and the agricultural community.

Overall, the Minarets FFA Pre-Show was a huge success. It was fun, educational, social, and a great opportunity to practice for the future and the Chowchilla fair. Emma’s leadership really showed, as did the effort she put into the event. Everyone left feeling encouraged and excited. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the FFA students and what they will accomplish next year!
