With backpacks strapped tight and spirits high, Minarets High School students set out on an unforgettable backpacking adventure: A 3.5-mile trail into Yosemite National Park, led by English teacher Mr. Vaughn. The group voyaged to the great outdoors, creating new memories for the first time but not the last. A recent transfer student from Norway expressed how excited he was to experience the American wilderness for the first time, calling it “a completely new way to see nature.”

Some highlights from the trip included 30-foot cliff diving, conquering the cave, and enjoying grub under the stars. Students embraced the challenge, diving into the blue waters of Twin Lakes, feeling the cool breeze, exploring mysterious islands, and reeling in impressive catches while fishing. The cave was another major challenge on students' bucket lists, since it wasn’t their first encounter, some felt they had unfinished business. Working together, they navigated the dark passage, lending each other support and strengthening bonds along the way.

The sights were magical. From panoramic views atop the rocks to glimmering trees swaying in the cool breeze, but the most unforgettable moments came at night. After a long day of walking and having fun in the sun, the night was peaceful, a time to wind down for the tired students. Students set up camp, collaborated on meals, and relaxed under the starry night sky, embodying the Minarets C’s in every way.
By the end of the trip, students carried home more than just tired legs. They returned with stories, stronger friendships, and a reminder that nature has the power to connect people. As Christian Prieto summed it up, “The entire trip was hella dope!”
