Mustangs Saddle Up for Thanksgiving: Plans, Traditions, and Travels

As all of you know, Thanksgiving is arriving soon. The Minarets Mustangs are so stoked to have Thanksgiving break, which will take place November 25th through November 29th. The upcoming break will be celebrated with family, friends and community for the blessings of the year, the harvest, and overall American culture. And not only the Minarets Mustangs have Thanksgiving break. Schools nationwide will practice the tradition of community as they enjoy food, laughter and rest with the ones they love. Community member Neil Torr, when questioned about what he’s grateful for, explained, "All my friends, I've got an insanely great group of friends, they all blend together like family, the best i've ever had.” So whether or not you're spending thanksgiving with friends or family, there is something to be grateful for this season.

Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving, you may ask? Originally Thanksgiving was a celebration for honoring the early settlers and Native Americans who came together to give thanks for their harvest by having a feast. Thanksgiving now symbolizes the importance of intercultural peace, the history of America and the beauty of friends and family. Minarets student Bam Killian, when asked why he celebrates Thanksgiving, stated, “I like to spend time with my family and it's nice to get together because I have long distant relatives.” And he’s not the only one! Millions of families across the nation will get together and celebrate Thanksgiving this upcoming week with their loved ones, including our very own Minarets Mustangs. Minarets Press encourages you to spend time reflecting on the blessings and regrets of this year as you commune with your friends and family.  Finishing the week off with our heads held high, we wish you a happy Thanksgiving and an amazing break!
