Minarets FFA recently had a blast at the National FFA Convention. From going on tours to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Indianapolis Speedway Museum to attending general sessions and workshops hosted by the past national officers. Overall, the conference was insightful and got those who attended prepared to implement some new ideas.
Senior Jordan Basila attended the 2021 National Convention, and it was her second time attending. Throughout the interview, she expressed that there wasn’t a huge difference between the two times besides of course, the COVID restrictions. The biggest being, mask requirements. Basila had many great things to say about the trip and the people she went with. Her description of this trip was “an adventure.” Basila stated, “If I had one word to describe our trip to nationals, I would say it was an adventure. We visited many popular places back there, as well as ate an insane amount of food, walked way too much, and created some of the most memorable stories in my time with FFA.”
Senior, Rylan McKenna, had more great things to add on. His perspective is a little different from Basila’s though; it was his first time attending. McKenna enjoyed the experience, there were a couple of experiences in there that he particularly enjoyed like, going to the Indy 500 museum. Or even the Louisville Slugger Museum. From hearing about how many bricks it took to build the racetrack, to seeing how the process of how to make the famous Louisville Slugger bats. Despite the typical ups and downs of a trip, the senior made so many unforgettable memories and lasting bonds.
Paige Camacho, a junior, had a fun and educational experience. She gained a lot about the organization and the people building it. She wasn’t sure what to expect with it being her first time. But the outcome was great, she loved seeing family that she hadn’t seen for a while, specifically her sister, Mackenzie Camacho. Paige described the trip as “One hectic, yet, the most fun trip I have ever been on for school.” For anyone debating on attending next year, she would definitely recommend it, it is an “experience of a lifetime” stated Camacho.
