As the year comes to a close, many of our seniors are feeling sentimental. What they’ve known for four years is now going to be nothing but memories to look back on. But of those memories, what moments shine particularly brightly? From their first school dance to our rallies, see what events left the biggest impact on these seniors.
One of the most memorable parts of our 2024 graduates was their freshman year. One senior stated, “I slacked off those first two years and it ended up hurting my GPA,”. Having to be stuck behind screens was a difficult way to start an already challenging time in growing up. On top of that rocky start, our seniors have gone through three different principals and seventeen changes in our teachers.
This class of students has overcome a myriad of obstacles since arriving at Minarets. As expected, seniors unanimously said that if they could change anything about their high school experience, it would be COVID affecting their freshman year. The most common advice the seniors gave was that it gets better in the end. One particular senior said, “You will change and grow so much in just 4 years, never worry about embarrassing yourself, just be you.” Others advised being more involved in extracurriculars or school in general. Many seniors agreed that turning work in on time is extremely important even early on in your high school career.
The many adversities that the seniors have gone through turned out to be great learning experiences. An example of how resilient the class of 2024 has been is the fact that we have six valedictorians speaking at graduation. We have so many qualified students this year who have showcased their talents many times throughout their four years here.
Looking back on this year, almost everyone had a unique response to being asked what their favorite senior moment was. Answers ranged from prom to getting accepted into a dream college, and attending the Senior Sunrise. Our school has so many experiences for upcoming seniors to look forward to! While we’re sad to see our seniors go, we can’t wait to see what they accomplish.
