Seniors Visiting their Past

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

Students come far and wide to become Mustangs, but many of our come from within our own Chawanakee Unified School District, either from North Fork Elementary or Spring Valley Elementary. With our seniors so close to graduating, there was one last stop to make before continuing on: back to where it all started.

Seniors from within the district gathered on May 23, 2019 to visit their old elementary schools. We all start somewhere and our seniors had the chance to revisit their old hallways, see former teachers, and encourage new generation of students. With the future quickly approaching, it can be scare so revisiting places that hold old memories is a boost of confidence for next chapter in our lives.

Sierra Stalter, a North Fork Elementary graduate, expressed, “It is important to go back to see where you started, where you came from, and how much you have grown up. It was a reality check that we are actually leaving. We walked around and gave all the kids high fives, and they were there giving us support.”

Seniors Christian Stover, Emily Bourdon, Mason Hough, Sierra Stalter, Sophia Mendosa, Jesse Hutchin, Alex Sexton, and Justin Coleman revisit North Fork Elementary.

Charles Heersche, a Spring Valley graduate, conveyed his thoughts, “I felt good going back and seeing everything, my old school. You have to realize the bigger picture: don't chase other people's ambitious and find people who can relate. When you are a senior you have learned and matured throughout high school. Keep doing what you are doing and be productive."

Seniors Charles Heersche, Carynn Steer, Christian Varner, Kameron Moore, Regan Fringer, Tyson Ellis, and Zack Redman revisit Spring Valley Elementary.

Life is full of transitions. We first face the transition of elementary school to high school, and now our seniors are facing now a transition from high school to adulthood. It is always important to look back to see how far you have come. We have all had past successes, past mistakes and are moving on to our bright futures with unknown destinations.
