On Friday, January 17th, I was able to interview Spanish Teacher, Friend, and former catcher prodigy, Mr. Land. This wonderful educator has been one of my favorite teachers for years and I imagine a lot of people would say the same. Over the years Mr. Land has been great to Minarets and I have nothing but good things to say about him.

Mr. Land told me he has been teaching at Minarets for the past 6 years. He has been a Coding, Spanish and English teacher at Minarets. Since I was interviewing him, I was able to ask him some more personal questions, like what his favorite restaurant was. To this he responded “I’ve really been going to Sushi Day, by Clovis West.” I also asked Mr. Land about his famous hair that he cut off. Many students were grieved when they saw Mr. Land’s new haircut, but we've grown to appreciate it.  He explained “That was something that started off in the pandemic, so you couldn’t get a haircut and so I stopped going to the barber and it just went from there.”I was even able to talk to him about his former minor league catching career. I asked “I heard you used to play catcher?” he questioned “where’d you hear that?” chuckled, then continued “yeah, I used to be catcher” that was about as much information as I could get out of our mysterious Mr. Land. I was happy to learn more about him and his career.

Overall, it was a pleasure being able to interview what I’d call a friend, Mr. Land. He is a very supportive teacher and it was great being able to connect with him over our similarities. I look forward to learning from Mr. Land and seeing him by my side until graduation. Thank you for all you do, Mr. Land!
