The Minarets Color Run, seniors Cole and Xavian’s SLE

By Felicia Keg

On Thursday, May 16, Minarets hosted the first-ever Color Run! An SLE project by seniors Cole Carillo and Xavian Ignasiak, The event created a lunchtime full of color and fun. Students lined up to run on the track as other kids and staff members held and dispersed water and colored powder onto the runners. Kids were doused in water and layered in so many different colors. This event was a huge success. Let's look deeper into how it came to be and how it went with Cole and Xavian’s SLE.

As this event was advertised as the first of its kind at Minarets as an SLE we asked how it was inspired and Cole stated, “We wanted this to be our SLE because we have never been in a color run before.”  They ended up creating such a successful event just because they wanted to, all starting from scratch is very impressive.

The whole school went to the event and many agreed the event went well with good time planning, enough colors and water, as well as snow cones for running three laps. A student who ran four laps Chloe Tosseti stated, “It went wonderfully.”  When asked personally how his SLE went Cole expressed that it went very well and that it will grow, when followed up on why he thinks so he stated, “I feel this way because at the start there were a lot of people in the stands but then as it went on more and more people started to come out and participate so next year they will know what to expect,” This shows how a good amount of people weren't super sure what was going to happen but as they saw it they were motivated to join the fun.

It seems this event was lucky to have been started by Cole and Xavin as it was extremely successful in its first one, definitely, a legacy these seniors are leaving behind for the future of minarets SLE staples.
