Welcome Michael Land!

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

Everyday we pass familiar faces in the hallways or walking to class and it is very rare that we see somebody new on campus. Although we had to say goodbye to Spanish teacher UP as she takes on a new journey of caring for her own child, we have been introduced to our long term sub and future English teacher, Michael Land. He has said nothing but positive things about our school describing his experience as positive and likes that Minarets is project-based school.

Teacher Michael Land

As we all know, Minarets is pretty different from most high schools and can be quite the transition whether you're a new student or new teacher. Teacher Land described the biggest difference was between Minarets and other schools he has taught at is that "the school is small enough to have a close community and from my experience this gives people a greater sense of community. I think there’s a lot of pride that goes into being a Mustang”.

He also noted that our technology integration and project-based learning also makes Minarets unique. “It’s new to me. Not having textbooks is different but I really think it’s the future and the openness that teachers have in their curriculum and students to use what they have learned in their own way. It’s not based on memorization, it’s not based on thirty years ago, It’s definitely a 21st century school."
