What Makes The Mustang's Graduation So Special?

By: Aubre Matier

From grand entrances to music, classic cars, and epic production, Minarets High School's graduation ceremony is unlike any other.

Minarets High School's graduation is different from the very beginning of the ceremony - starting with a grand entrance of Ford Mustangs! Graduates sit stop of the Mustangs while the students’ songs of choice play in the background (consider this the equivalent of a baseball player’s “walk-up song”). This tradition sets the tone, vibe, and atmosphere for the night!

Our traditions include not only the Mustang cars, but the walk-in songs with your buddy, the senior video, and the awards. Each tradition creates an authentic and memorable graduation for students and families.

“Seeing graduates vibe out with their walking buddy to their favorite song, makes it chefs kiss. That’s what Minarets is all about…creativity!”

  • Stated alumni Sadie Burrough

Graduation is intentionally produced to cover the Minarets 6 C's. Graduation is the perfect example of Critical Thinking and Competency, as the event requires an incredible amount of planning and skillful execution; Creativity which is demonstrated in the unique qualities of graduation; Communication when the seniors convey their personal and original speeches; and Collaboration when students and staff work with one another to produce graduation. Finally, Community is reflected throughout graduation as families, students, and the entire Minarets community come together to celebrate the achievements of our graduates.

Graduation is produced with the help of our school’s administration. This includes Mrs. Corippo, our principal, Mr. Curwick, our vice principal, plus Mrs. Chacon and Mrs. Camacho, our counselors.

The theme as well as organization of Minarets High School’s graduation was established when Minarets was first opened nearly 15 years ago. It has evolved consistently and constantly throughout the years. Each year,, planning begins after the fall semester.
