Earlier this year, the Chawanakee Unified School District Board approved Mr. Fowler as the next principal of Minarets high school. Before entering the district, Mr. Fowler has served as a Substitute teacher, Physical education teacher, Activities Director, and Principal. Fowler started in 2005 with Caruthers Unified school district and stayed there for 16 years.
Before he started working with the school, Mr.Fowler was given a basketball scholarship through Eastern Wyoming college, graduated from Fresno Pacific, got his teaching credential at National University, and eventually got his Master’s Degree at Shatern State University.
The opening of the principal position wasn’t the first time Fowler had heard of or seen Minarets. In the past, Dr.Ching and Mr.Fowler have connected at basketball games and football games to talk about the schools.
"Talking with Dr.Ching the past years has made me very interested in the school and its teaching style, and I'm very excited to move forward with the school,” said Fowler.
He learned bits and pieces about Minarets over the years and was astonished by how real everything was his first time in the school.
In the next four years, as the Minarets principal Fowler wants there to be successful pathways for every student that steps onto campus, whether it be Dual Enrollment, Agriculture, CTE pathways, or honors courses.
Fowler believes that project-based learning is a unique way of learning, “It’s not a canned version of education and allows students to grow in their own ways,” he says.
Fowler's excitement to be a Mustang next year radiates through his smile and personality.
“There's not just one thing to be excited for; I’m excited about everything,” Fowler said.
As for the students and staff at Minarets, we are very excited to welcome him with open arms.
