The 2020-2021 Yearbook Committee started off strong this year with eight students, including the editor, senior Jessica McGrail, and co-editor, junior Rylee Zukovsky. COVID-19 has brought up some unique challenges, but the staff is determined to overcome them.
All of the students have had to work extra hard in planning for the yearbook. The main obstacle this year: Student photos. Since students are not allowed on campus, the yearbook team has opted to have students take their own photos and submit them to the following links:
9-11th: bit.ly/mhsunderclassmen
Seniors: bit.ly/minaretsseniors.
Editor Jessica McGrail said, “...Everybody always complains about them having a bad yearbook photo so with taking our own, we can do however many retakes that we want and perfect it to how we would like it, but it will also show off our creativity.”
The photo submission deadline for 9-11th graders is Nov. 1 while seniors don’t need to have theirs turned in until Dec. 1.
It is important for all students to submit their photos because, if they don't, the photos will not be featured in the yearbook.
Yearbooks are also available for purchase right now for $85 until Nov. 1. The price then increases to $90 from Nov. 1 to Feb. 1. From Feb. 1 to May 1, the price increases to $110. If students or parents are not able to purchase a book in that time frame, there will still be an option to be put on a waiting list.
This year will no doubt be interesting for the yearbook team with event cancellations and distance learning. Students are strongly encouraged to get their pictures in by the submission deadline so everyone has the opportunity to be featured in the yearbook.
To be reminded of deadlines as well as new information from the yearbook team, students and parents can follow Minarets High School or Minarets Press on Facebook and/or Instagram.
